Disconnecting Users from NT Server
Description: This seems to be a problem specific to Windows 95 workstations running with NT Server.
Starting PracSoft on one workstation produces the "Unexpected Occurrence" message with the unknown error message and ID No. -8194. This means that PRACSOFT.MDB has been detected as requiring a database repair and this workstation is attempting to do it - however it cannot obtain the exclusive access to the database that it needs.
First, try closing PracSoft on all workstations and then start PracSoft on one single workstation. If the message persists then follow the procedure below to remove all shared file locks to PRACSOFT.MDB so the automatic repair can proceed.
Solution!
To disconnect users on NT Server you can follow these steps :-
- Click Start - Programs - Administrative Tools - Server Manager
- Double-click your Server icon, then click Users.
- From here you can disconnect individual (or all) users.
Slow Performance From NT Server
Some sites have noticed that they receive a very slow response for PracSoft at times when a Screen Saver is running on the Server. Further investigation has shown that some Screen Savers use 99% of the CPU. It is recommended that you do not use Screen Savers on a server.
